There is no doubt that laboring is part of everyday life on earth. Over the recent Labor Day weekend, I read a devotional that made me realize that just about every comfort we enjoy is a result of someone else’s labor. The food you are eating was grown and harvested by a farmer, packed by a warehouse worker and delivered by a truck driver. The furniture you are sitting on was carefully planned and crafted by by workers in this field. Even the window you are looking out of is the result of someone’s efforts. Each task carried out is a way of serving humankind on earth; God’s wish for all of us. When I started looking at the effort behind each material possession, I gained a new appreciation of God’s creation. God has made each of us with gifts that contribute to fulfill a need on earth. My prayer is that each person might find their gift and find a deep satisfaction in knowing that their labors have made a difference for so many people. This week, gain a new appreciation of the many ways we serve God on earth and pray that each servant may find their worth to the fullest!
